MFB Texas working with other NFPs to help Ukrainians

As the events in Ukraine unfold, we've watched as refugees have fled their homes, struggling with great loss. One Midwest Food Bank Texas board member, Rich Stoller, decided to see if he could help. Combining the strengths of MFB with three other organizations, Rich has been able to coordinate the overseas shipment of a load of Tender Mercies, MFB's nutritious rice and beans meal.

The organizations working with MFB are International Christian Enterprise, Inc. (ICE, of Keller, TX), Basic Life Support (BLS), and The Elpis Foundation in Romania. Rich worked with his church (Mount Church) to collect the money for this effort.

"I am thankful to be able to leverage the quality product from Midwest Food Bank," says Rich. "Tender Mercies meals provide a national and international solution for people in need."

The Mount Church and ICE are donating the cost of 240,000 Tender Mercies servings. They will ship the Tender Mercies to Rotterdam, Netherlands. BLS will transport the meals from there to the Elpis Foundation in Dej, Romania, near the southern border of Ukraine. The foundation is providing relief in a few Ukraine cities and some Romanian locations, helping refugees who have fled war-torn regions.
