New Volunteer Coordinator begins at MFB Indiana
Tomi Brooks describes herself as a huge sports fan. Her work life also was in the sports arena as the Operations Coordinator for the NCAA for 23 years. That experience helping young people compete and be part of a team will come in handy as she builds a roster of volunteers at Midwest Food Bank Indiana. Tomi joined the Indiana staff as Volunteer Coordinator in April.
"I speak with volunteers and potential volunteers all day long to ensure we find meaningful and fun work for each person," says Tomi. "I learn something new in every conversation."
Besides her role at the NCAA, Tomi has volunteered with Upward Basketball, served on missions trips, and as a Sunday School teacher, small group leader, and deacon. She and her husband Michael recently celebrated 20 years of marriage and have two children, Olivia and Chase.
"God also put six young men in our lives that lived with us off and on over the years that call us mom and dad," says Tomi.
"Tomi is a quick learner and committed to connecting to our volunteers," says Marcie Luhigo. "Her experience and skills will help us grow our volunteer program in many new ways."
