Notes from MFB Disaster Relief recipients

"As a faith-based organization, it is the mission of Midwest Food Bank to share the love of Christ by alleviating hunger and malnutrition locally and throughout the world and providing disaster relief; all without discrimination."

At Midwest Food Bank, we are in the business of providing food for those in need. But as our mission statement says, our motivation is "to share the love of Christ." One of the ways we do that is to include an encouraging devotional word in our Disaster Relief family food boxes. Here is a recent one:

We sometimes hear words of thanks from recipients of Disaster Relief. Read some of the thanks MFB has received:

"Greetings! I just received a food box with the spiritual statement inside and it was meant for me, every word. I am 60 years old and have been having tremendously hard times. Been praying a lot and asking God's help and then I get this. I know life is hard at times but I don't know how much more I can take at times. Horrific bad divorce, tons of legal fees, lots of lies, and all on a disability income. Yet I know that God shines on me and that I will finish the race. Please pray for me and my family and for America. In the name of Jesus, I thank you and the volunteers."

"I am a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate in Agency Village, SD. I wanted to reach out and say thank you for the recent donation of food. We appreciate your kindness."

"I am a homeless man that works at the Salvation Army in Newhall CA. I have just received a few of the boxes your volunteers packed for the hurricane victims. It has so touched my heart. I have a horrible story about my life. Former drug addict and everything you could imagine horrible has been in my past. However, I do walk with the Good Lord. I have been released from Corcoran State Prison and I am starting all over again at the age of 54. I was so touched by the paper you placed inside the box of food I was handing out that it brought tears to my eyes knowing how much you care for all those that have been through it all!!! I want you to know how wonderful I believe you to be. THANK YOU!"

Have you ever volunteered at Midwest Food Bank? Have you made a financial donation to MFB? Be encouraged that your involvement has touched the lives of struggling people. With your help and God's blessings, we continue to fulfill our mission.
