Update from MFB Texas
Midwest Food Bank Texas continues to grow and serve communities.
MFB Texas serves 100 partner agencies, more the double the amount served in January 2020. They are located in 40 counties.
Over $14.8 million worth of food was distributed in 2020 - approximately 6 million pounds. The amount of high-nutrition produce, dairy, and protein food distributed was a staggering 41%. Over 600,000 food-insecure people were reached through these distributions.
MFB Texas accomplished all of this from a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse on a $180,000 operating budget. There are 2 full-time employees at this location.
These results are only possible with the help of an army of dedicated volunteers. 188 volunteers put in 10,916 hours of service, the equivalent of more than 5 full-time employees.
