MFB Peoria volunteer LaDonna found a cause to support

At work and at church LaDonna Orr was encouraged to serve and volunteer. She first volunteered with a group from work several years ago, and then a recent message at church about service re-enforced that idea.

"LaDonna is an amazing ambassador for Midwest Food Bank Peoria," says Dominica Rogers, Community Relations and Volunteer Manager.

LaDonna retired from Accenture in 2019 after 20 years in software support for Caterpillar dealers around the globe. She had been volunteering for awhile when her pastor's message about service encouraged her to find a cause that she cared about and go out and serve.

"All my life, I have been so very thankful that I have never had to wonder if or how I was going to be able to feed my children," says LaDonna. "I cannot imagine that pain in a mother's heart."

She is married to her husband, Tom. "We have been married four years, and God has blessed us both with a second chance to share our lives," says LaDonna. She also has two married children and three grandsons.

"It's exciting to be part of such an honorable organization that makes a real difference in people's lives every day," says LaDonna.

Volunteers are critical to the impact of MFB. In 2022, across the MFB organization, there were 550 volunteers for every one paid staff member. Click here to learn how you can join our volunteer team.
