MFB Texas works with FWPD to deliver water to Ohio

Water shipment to Ohio
In February, when a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, Police Officer Buddy Calzado wanted to help. It didn't matter that he was a police officer in Fort Worth, Texas. He knew that bottled water would be something in high demand.

The FWPD collected a few pallets of water and also called on Midwest Food Bank Texas to see if they could donate additional water.

"My response was 'how much do you need?'" says Chris Lee, operations manager.

On February 17, Officer Calzado arrived with a box truck and a squad car to load the MFB donation and make the trip to Ohio.

"I prayed over the officers before they left as they were on their way to bless other officers and civilians in Ohio," says Chris.

Office Calzado first became familiar with MFB through his wife. She had been to the Texas warehouse to receive food for Fort Worth Metro Ministries, a nonprofit partner serving children and families in the city's most poverty-stricken and crime-ridden areas. They provide food, clothing, toys, and other resources.

Disaster relief is one of the ways MFB fulfills its mission of sharing the love of Christ. People like Office Calzado and his wife help us do that.
