About three years ago Rosemary Glithero was asked to help with food boxes at the food pantry at her church, St. Matthew United Methodist. She had no idea where it came from. That request was followed by another when Midwest Food Bank Arizona reached out to St. Matthew to request volunteers. Rosemary answered that call, too.
Today, she is a weekly volunteer at Midwest Food Bank Arizona and at her church. She is able to see how MFB acquires food and then gets it ready to give to food pantries. She helps pack food boxes and also completes paperwork that is part of MFB's distribution. She says it's such a blessing seeing the process full circle.
"It means so much to me to help people" says Rosemary. "You are rewarded more than 100 times,"
While at MFB, Rosemary meets other food pantries from throughout Arizona. She enjoys hearing what other agencies are doing. She says she is inspired by how different organizations minister to people in need.
During the last few years the pantry at St. Matthew has doubled. They provide about 55 food boxes every other week.
"I can't tell you what MFB has done for our pantry," says Rosemary.
We know the feeling. MFB Arizona can't tell you what volunteers like Rosemary do for us.
