Enbridge employees from Pontiac, IL volunteered on May 29 in a very unique way—by offering to do a 4 hour, skilled labor project. Most volunteer groups help repackage food, pack boxes, and complete other food distribution projects for a couple hours. We are blessed with all the groups that help! Enbridge takes volunteering at MFB a step further by offering more time and skilled help doing more physically intense projects.
Last year, Enbridge employees sorted, inventoried, and stacked heavy steel racking to be used at other MFB warehouses. This year, Enbridge employees pulled the overgrown weeds and trash from our back fence line—a need that would be impossible without their willingness to do the dirty work. When the four hour project wrapped up, most employees even stayed the rest of the day to pack disaster relief boxes for people affected by recent tornadoes and floods.
If volunteer work wasn't enough, Enbridge also presented a grant for $5000 to help fund the operations at our Bloomington-Normal location! Support from area companies like Enbridge are vital to the mission of feeding those struggling with food insecurity.
