After the Lord opened many doors, Solid Rock House of God was started by Rev. David Sapata in 2010. The church sits in a low income community of Wichita Falls, TX, and has worked to provide ministries that help their neighbors.Rev. David says it was always on his heart to feed the hungry. Midwest Food Bank Texas has been able to expand the dream to feed those in need. About 5 months ago Rev. David came in contact with Terry Grisgby of MFB.Now the food distribution program of their church has expanded from feeding 20 families a month to nearly 150 families per month.
Solid Rock believes that when hunger is alleviated it empowers people to increase self-sufficiency, self-esteem, and is of benefit to all areas of a family and community. They specifically are looking to feed widows, single parent homes, drug addicts, and homeless people. They go out to the homeless and bring them in to feed them both physically and spiritually. Their prayer is that people will see Jesus in the process of being fed.
Rev. David says the people that come to the food distribution are amazed at the generosity. They feel touched for the care they are receiving with the food donation. He is personally able to minister to people as he converses with them. One woman, Lisa, confided that her husband had recently had a stroke. She then reached out and is now going back to church and is part of that community of people.
Midwest Food Bank has not only allowed Solid Rock to grow our impact on the community with food distribution, it has been an awesome experience working with the guys there, says Rev. David. He loves that he can partner with MFB and in the process bring hope to the Wichita Falls Community.
Midwest Food Bank is truly grateful for our agencies who are so committed to feed the hungry.
