We get excited about equipment at Midwest Food Bank. That's because it helps us safely and efficiently fulfill our mission.

At MFB Florida, the excitement is real because three pieces of equipment are now part of the fleet - a forklift, a refrigerated utility trailer, and a semi-truck.

"While the upfront equipment expense is costly, it ensures the reliability and longevity of MFB's operations for our partner agencies for many years to come," says Karl Steidinger, Executive Director of MFB Florida.

Here's what MFB is excited about:
• Electric Toyota Forklift - This forklift helps maintain a high level of safety for our drivers and volunteers because of the lack of emissions released into the warehouse. Also, it includes updated safety technologies. It will arrive in the fall of this year. MFB received a grant from the USDA that went toward purchasing the forklift.​ • 2023 Kenworth T680 semi-truck - This new semi-truck provides a reliable way for MFB to deliver and pick up products. It was funded by generous donors. • Refrigerated Utility Trailer - This trailer was ready in late May. MFB gratefully received a $100,000 grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation for purchasing this trailer. It provides extra security for produce by keeping it fresh for a longer time.​
