Lina Martin is a new employee at Midwest Food Bank Georgia, but she is not new to MFB. She will serve as the Volunteer Coordinator in Georgia.
Shortly after MFB Georgia opened in 2011, Lina started volunteering. She helped on food distribution days and then became trained to lead volunteer groups. She also worked for a food partner that receives food from MFB.
"Having worked for an agency that received food from Midwest Food Bank, I know firsthand the impact the gift of food makes in helping struggling families," says Lina. "I had the privilege to learn how providing food to a family in crisis provides hope, which is essential in helping them get to a better place."
Lina also values the spirit of volunteerism and how it is a key part of MFB. Her appreciation of the whole volunteer experience ideally suits her for this position.
"I enjoy the teamwork I see in the volunteers working together to make a difference in the lives of people they may never even meet," she says. "There is great energy at MFB, enhanced by the purpose of glorifying God through service. MFB is not only meeting needs by providing food for the hungry, but also by providing community for those serving."
Volunteers Coordinators at MFB locations organize, equip, and train the thousands of volunteers that help us put our mission into action. In 2020, there were 450 volunteers for every one paid staff member.
Lina and her husband have four children. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and the ocean. Welcome to the MFB team, Lina!
