"All in" is how Brent Carl describes an energetic volunteer at Midwest Food Bank New England. That volunteer is Linda Spinelli, and she started volunteering after a tour given by Brent, the Volunteer and Community Relations Manager at MFB. This was during the "open to the community" volunteer events.
"From the moment she came to volunteer, we knew she was someone we'd love to have on our volunteer team," says Brent. "Whether getting food ready for distribution or completing weekly housekeeping tasks, Linda always gives her best effort and has fun doing it."
Linda spent 45 years in nursing, most recently as a staff and charge nurse at an in-patient acute care hospice facility in Oregon. Last summer Linda, her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren moved back east to be close to family.
"I love being part of the wonderful team at MFB and contributing to the community in this time of great need," says Linda.
In her free time, she likes to cook, read, watch old movies, spend time outside, exercise, and spend time with family.
"I'm the mother of three and a very proud grandmother of three," says Linda.
Linda and all volunteers at MFB are the life-blood of our organization. In 2021, across all MFB locations, volunteer service hours equaled 158 full-time employees.
