Changing lives, restoring hope, sharing God's love - that is the mission of the Community Enrichment Center (CEC) in North Richlands Hills. Midwest Food Bank Texas is privileged to be a part of the CEC mission by providing food, free of charge, that is used in their food pantry.
"The food that Midwest Food Bank provides always adds to the overall services we offer," says Jere McCully, Warehouse Manager for CEC. "Midwest Food Bank has a heart for serving the community is a real blessing to the work here at the Community Enrichment Center."
Food is just a part of how CEC practices its mission. They serve low-income, homeless, and domestic violence victims with education, employment, financial coaching, GED tutoring and testing, and housing. In 2020 CEC served about 17,000 in their programs, and 4,000 volunteers helped them do it.
"The best part of working at CEC is helping families in our community," says Jere McCully, Warehouse Manager for CEC. "We are so blessed to watch them progress and move toward a financially secure and brighter future."
One of the people CEC empowered is named Michelle, and she moved into a CEC property in February of 2020. Previously, Michelle was living in a sober living community after losing custody of her children. Since that time, CEC has provided housing, employment, and financial coaching to help her develop goals and make plans to achieve those goals. She started a new job and regained custody of her children. Because of her hard work and newfound stability, Michelle was accepted into the Habitat for Humanity program, and construction is underway for her brand new home.
CEC is one of over 50 non-profit partners that receive food from Midwest Food Bank Texas. Thanks to generous donors and dedicated volunteers, MFB Texas can be a part of helping people like Michelle.
