Midwest Food Bank Texas has a new fork lift. It is more energy efficient than the units we have been using. Along with the trade-in of an older unit, a grant provided the funds to purchase this new forklift.
Also new at MFB Texas is the arrangement of our warehouse pallet racking. The reorganization creates a safer and more efficient use of space. More dock space for loading and unloading and a greater turning radius between the rows of racking are also benefits of the new layout.
Our current storage is limited to 43 slots and we turn that space over once every month. Our lack of space is our most limiting factor to growth. However, we are able to give out about $850,000 worth of food each month. MFB Texas is continually seeking ways to serve more partner agencies and consequently, more people in need.
