At Midwest Food Bank Arizona, part of our mission is to provide Disaster Relief in times of crisis, bringing hope and essential supplies to those who need them most. Recently, when Ruidoso, New Mexico, was devastated by the McBride Fire and subsequent flash floods, we stepped in and offered support.
The McBride Fire, which ravaged over 6,000 acres and destroyed more than 200 homes, left the Ruidoso community reeling. Just as they began to assess the damage and plan for recovery, heavy rains triggered flash floods, adding to the devastation and creating an even more urgent need for relief. Recognizing the critical situation, we worked with our partner, The Salvation Army - Southwest Division, to deliver much-needed supplies to those affected.
Our team coordinated the delivery of eight pallets filled with water, coffee, and snacks to support the Salvation Army's relief efforts on the ground. These essential items provided immediate comfort to the families and individuals displaced by the disaster, offering not only physical sustenance but also a glimmer of hope as they began the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.
"Providing disaster relief is central to our mission of alleviating hunger and suffering in times of crisis," says Merilee Baptiste, Executive Director of Midwest Food Bank Arizona. "Our partnership with The Salvation Army allowed us to extend our reach and impact, bringing hope and essential supplies to the people of Ruidoso."
As Ruidoso begins to recover, we remain committed to supporting the community through this challenging time. Whether through donations or volunteering, your support helps us continue to provide vital relief to communities in need. Click to gift hope to those in crisis.
