Midwest Food Bank Welcomes Angela Kempf as Accounting Director

Midwest Food Bank is pleased to announce the hiring of Angela Kempf as Accounting Director. Angela joins us with over 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance field. Angela began in June, working from the Morton, Illinois, division.

With a career that started as a CPA in public accounting and later transitioned into private industry, Angela has spent the last 17 years with Maui Jim sunglasses, where she held various accounting roles, most recently as Controller. Her extensive experience in financial management, paired with her passion for collaborative work, makes her a valuable addition to Midwest Food Bank.

One of Midwest Food Bank's core values is maintaining an efficient, lean operation, ensuring that nearly every dollar donated goes directly to those in need. Angela's role as Accounting Director is pivotal in upholding this commitment to being one of the most efficient charities. With less than 0.6 cents of every dollar spent on administration, MFB's financial model stands as a benchmark for efficiency in the nonprofit sector.

Angela is enthusiastic about contributing to this mission, saying, "I am very excited to become a part of the Midwest Food Bank family where I will be serving alongside loving, Christ-centered people. I cannot wait to be a part of God's good work and help encourage and lift others up!" Her experience in managing finances with precision and care will be instrumental in continuing MFB's tradition of operational excellence and efficiency.

Under Angela's leadership, MFB's financial team will continue to optimize processes that ensure funds are used effectively, with a focus on maximizing impact. Her background in implementing efficient financial systems will further strengthen MFB's ability to serve more people without increasing administrative costs. This dedication to efficiency is crucial, especially as MFB expands its reach to serve millions of people annually with the help of 36,000 volunteers and 2,400 nonprofit partners.

A Passion for Service

Beyond her professional achievements, Angela is a devoted family person. She is married to Travis, her high school sweetheart, and they have two children, Tyler (18) and Leigha (15). The family enjoys staying active with sports and travel, particularly skiing in the mountains during winter and spending time on the water during the summer.

Kristen McNamara: A Faith-Driven Addition to Our Team

"Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be poured unto you. For with the same measure that you use, will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38."

This Bible verse reflects Kristen McNamara's approach to life and work. Her commitment to faith-driven service aligns perfectly with Midwest Food Bank's (MFB) mission. We welcome Kristen as our new Development Manager for the New England division, beginning Monday, June 10.

Kristen is a faith-forward mother, Cursillista, and the author of a Christian children's bereavement book. She brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit work, particularly in causes related to cancer research, youth programs, and veteran suicide prevention. Her diverse background includes marathon running, beekeeping, and a deep engagement with religious organizations.

"The opportunity to advance the mission of MFB is the marriage of apostolic action and evangelization," says Kristen. "I'm grateful to be a part of the MFB family and feel blessed to be able to live my faith at work every day."

Kristen resides in East Haddam, CT, with her four children, a St. Bernard, backyard chickens, and bees. She enjoys sharing her faith, exploring art galleries, visiting farmers' markets, traveling, playing the piano, and writing.
