Buna is a small town in north east Kenya. Godwin Matswa, MFB East Africa, recently went with Bloomington, Illinois-based Spread Truth to Buna to share the gospel of Jesus and food.
This region is semi-arid and they are always on the edge of famine. Other challenges are food insecurities from terrorist and clan in-fighting violence. Traveling to this area requires careful security planning. Many of the hosts were retired Army or police officers.
Spread Truth's mission (to "reach the world with God's story ... ") fits well with that of Midwest Food Bank. The Buna area is predominately Muslim, making sharing the gospel a real blessing. The food offering helps the gospel message have a greater impact.
In this trip, 20 tonnes of of Tender Mercies were distributed. These meals benefitted 1,000 families. We're thankful to be able to share the gospel and this food in Buna.
