In February, a Midwest Food Bank Georgia employee had the privilege of serving alongside one of our partner agencies. Operations Manager Lisa Lowther volunteered with Hearts of Love Outreach Ministries of Newman, GA.
Joan and Marshall Lee, their family and a few dedicated volunteers serve families and individuals in need in their community with generosity, compassion, and great love. Their mission is simple – serve their community and share God's love and mercy to whomever comes to the door, without judgment.
"We are a small outreach that loves Jesus and his people," says Joan. "We want to meet them right where they are and let them know they are not alone – Jesus cares and we do too."
Hearts of Love serves an average of 150-175 people each month. Joan and Marshall have a vision to build a youth center among other things. Joan is eager to share the story of their ministry to everyone she meets, and Marshall works tirelessly to keep their pantry stocked and running well. It takes people like the Lee's to remind us that helping others is not only a privilege, but our duty.
"It is a pleasure to work alongside and to support one of our partner agencies working hard to help bridge that gap for the most vulnerable in our community," says Lisa. "I am so thankful that Midwest Food Bank is able to support their ministry."
