This month, Midwest Food Bank (MFB) had the incredible opportunity to visit one of our most unique agencies; Camp Grace. Rather than serving Camp Grace at load out week, we brought a special distribution to them so we could get to know their needs, and see what God is doing at the camp!
Thirty camp counselors helped unload our special distribution assembly line style with mounting anticipation for the first campers of the season that would arrive just a few days after MFB's delivery. Each box that was passed was done with the campers in mind, and the counselors were buzzing with excitement.
Half of the donation given to Camp Grace came from the Midwest Food Bank in Bloomington Illinois, and MFB Peachtree City completed the load to make a total contribution of almost 1400 cases of product. Items in the donation included supplies from bath tissue and sunscreen to food items such as granola bars in hopes of enhancing the wonderful experience Camp Grace provides to its campers.
Following the distribution, MFB volunteers toured the beautiful Camp Grace facilities. The sole mission of Camp Grace is to transform the lives of urban youth through a life changing, Christ-centered week of summer camp.
The facilities at Camp Grace are situated by a beautiful lake outfitted with a large waterslide, trampoline, and a dock to jump from. The property also houses a pool, rock climbing wall, and first-rate sleeping quarters for campers and counselors.
MFB volunteers were given the opportunity to hear how campers are given the very best environment to change their hearts.
"The key word for me is environment. We change their environment here at Camp Grace, and it changes lives," said Pastor Dave Pridemore, founder of Camp Grace.Midwest Food Bank is truly honored to provide food and supplies to Camp Grace, and we plan to provide more distributions including frozen foods and blankets in the coming summer months.
MFB values each of our agency partnerships, and Camp Grace is one of many that supports the heart of Midwest Food Bank- serving through Christ to those who need it most.
