Volunteer groups at Midwest Food Bank New England know how to grab a hairnet, gloves, and measuring tools to help make a nutritious meal. We are grateful for the groups who recently hand-packed
Tender Mercies. Tender Mercies was developed by dietitians for MFB and is a highly nutritious, low-cost blend of rice, beans, and fortified seasonings. With the help of volunteers, these meals are assembled and are then available to MFB food partners. Because of volunteer efforts, Tender Mercies was available at the May food distribution.
"Almost all of our agency partners took Tender Mercies in May," says Jan Young, MFB New England Executive Director. "We feel blessed to be able to provide this nutrient-dense meal to our neighbors in need."
Several groups, including families, businesses, and college students, hand-packed Tender Mercies meals for MFB.
"We are happy to report that 27,360 hungry people will be able to enjoy a nutritious meal because of these efforts," says Jan.
