As always, MFB volunteers and generous donors made this project possible. The Morton location has experienced growth both in volunteers and staff, so additional offices were made from a larger conference room and an open office area created for both staff and volunteers. Widmer Interiors generously provided office furniture for these spaces.
"The donated furniture is top of the line with desks that elevate to standing desks," says Lisa Martin, Executive Director of MFB Morton. "Both staff and volunteers appreciate this feature."
The remodel also included a new entry door on the north side of the building, new concrete around the entryway, new carpet, and a fresh coat of paint. Artwork will be installed soon that tells the story of MFB.
A volunteer also helped coordinate a grant to replace all light fixtures with LED and motion censored. This is an update and a cost-saving measure that will be seen within a year. A team of four volunteer electricians spent a couple of days doing the labor. Countless volunteers did demolition work, cleaning, painting, moving furniture, and much more.
"All in all, we are feeling blessed for the remodel, the fresh look, and the professional workspace it has provided for our all-star volunteers and MFB staff," says Lisa. "So many people made this project possible."
The MFB Morton was established in 2012 and is the home site for its Tender Mercies meal program. It also provides space for staff that serve all locations of MFB.
