Meet Midwest Food Bank’s New Leaders and Team Members

INDIANA

Midwest Food Bank Names New Leaders to Strengthen Our Mission

Midwest Food Bank is pleased to announce key leadership appointments designed to enhance our impact. Marcie Luhigo will now serve as Development Director, overseeing fundraising initiatives for the broader Midwest Food Bank footprint. Diara Nicholson is stepping into the role of Executive Director for Midwest Food Bank Indiana.

"These appointments highlight the top-tier talent we are fortunate to have at Midwest Food Bank," said Pat Burke, COO. "Marcie and Diara embody our mission and bring invaluable experience to their new roles. Together, they will advance our goal of serving those in need with excellence."

Marcie came to Midwest Food Bank in 2022, bringing a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership. Over the past two years, Marcie has successfully led the Indiana division, building strong relationships and driving impactful programs. In her new role as Development Director, Marcie will focus on expanding fundraising initiatives for Midwest Food Bank across all divisions. Her background at Horizon House, where she developed community service programs and honed her fundraising skills, has prepared her to make a lasting impact.

"I am excited to step into this new role and focus on strengthening support for Midwest Food Bank's mission," said Marcie. "Together, we can continue to serve more families with the excellence and care they deserve."

Diara Nicholson joined Midwest Food Bank Indiana in 2024 as Operations Manager. With more than a decade of experience in logistics, quality control, and operations, most recently at Eli Lilly, Diara has already made a significant impact. Her leadership in advancing the use of Primarius has allowed the Indiana team to streamline inventory systems, enabling the transition from a dual inventory system. Diara's focus on process optimization and team leadership will help Indiana continue to grow its impact, ensuring that resources are used efficiently to serve those in need.

"I am deeply honored to serve as Executive Director at Midwest Food Bank Indiana," said Diara. "Midwest Food Bank feels like family, and I look forward to leading our team as we continue to make a lasting impact in our community."
