To help those struggling with food insecurity, Midwest Food Bank Georgia currently serves over 300 partner non-profit organizations each month, who are impacting 56 counties in 6 states. Soon, we hope to have an even greater impact by increasing the nutritional value of the food we distribute.
We have an opportunity to repurpose 11,000 sq. ft. of warehouse and office space to optimize our facility. With your help, we will build a large capacity freezer and cooler, increasing our ability to accept and distribute more fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, and dairy products. We often have to turn down perishable food donations due to lack of cold storage space. The new freezer and cooler will will have the capacity to hold 12 truckloads of nutritious food.
Additionally, to thank our community and the more than 3,500 volunteers serving MFB Georgia annually, we also want to share our facility by creating a 3,000 sq. ft. community gathering space. It will be used by volunteers and will be available for businesses, civic, and church groups, and families to use.
To accomplish this, we've begun an "Impacting Our Community" campaign. Please help us provide more high quality, nutritious food to those struggling with food insecurity. You can make a donation by clicking here. You can also help by connecting MFB Georgia with those who have the financial resources to provide the support or who are able to donate in-kind materials (including building materials, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC equipment, cabinetry and appliances).
Please join us in "Impacting Our Community." As the work is ultimately God's doing, we ask for your support in prayer as we begin this undertaking.
